As a student of the 8th Fire and the teachings of Algonquin Medicine man, Pete Bernard, it is an honour to be facilitating the December fire ceremony for the community.
In four rounds of prayer ceremony, we will be expressing our gratitude, prayers and intentions together.
This is an outdoor ceremony held in the west fire pit in Emily Murphy Park in Edmonton. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
We will begin smudging people at 6:45 p.m. and the ceremony will be at 7:00 p.m. It is important that you arrive on time.
You will need to bring minimally 4 offerings to the fire. The offering needs to be something meaningful. The more intention you bring, the more you will get out of the fire ceremony.
An offering can be:
- Sacred plant offerings such as sage, sweetgrass, cedar, palo santo, ceremonial tobacco
- Something taken from nature that you feel would be a meaningful offering
- A "release and let go" letter, an object that has a meaning for you, a picture, artwork
This ritual will be guided, and all explained fully when we gather together.
